In order to begin work on the Pokuase Housing project, the government’s first project under the new National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP), President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has already cut sod.
The Pokuase project intends to provide 8,000 housing units through a strategic cooperation with the private sector to meet the housing requirements of Ghanaians, particularly low-to-medium income workers.
The initiative will provide high-quality and reasonably priced housing alternatives for Ghanaians while drastically lowering the financial load on the government by utilizing the experience and effectiveness of the private sector.
President Akufo-Addo stated that the government would have taken on more debt in an effort to finish the Saglami Housing Project on Tuesday at the sod-cutting event in Accra.
President Akufo-Addo stated that the cabinet had instructed Francis Asenso-Boakye, the Minister of Works and Housing, to investigate the possibility of exposing the Saglami housing project at its current value to the private sector in order to complete it at no additional cost to the government. This decision was made based on assessments and took into consideration the project’s location and viability.
