Asante Kotoko supporter shot after match defeat (+Video)

A Kumasi Asante Kotoko supporter was supposedly hit by a stray ‘rubber’ bullet from Police personnel stationed at the Baba Yara Sports stadium earlier today.

The sad news received is that the supporter is in critical conditon and battling for his life.

Kotoko faced Berekum Chelsea in Match Day three of the new Ghana Premier League.
However, Asante Kotoko lost to a 1-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea, which caused supporters to react by throwing various items and objects on the field causing a halt during the Premier League match for several minutes.

Outraged fans of the Porcupine Warriors were enraged over decisions of the referee in their match against the visiting team which resulted in the throwing stones and sachet water directed at the match officials.

Security officials intervened to prevent some fans who tried to force a gate open giving them access to the pitch to launch an attack on the referee.

Calm looked to have been returned and the game continued until the end even though outside the stadium after the game, the disturbances continued.

In a video sighted, a man in a Kotoko replica jersey is seen in a pool of blood as onlookers the victim had been shot by a police officer and needed to be rushed to the hospital.
