Ghana’s music sensation and reigning Artiste of the Year, Black Sherif, has achieved yet another milestone in his burgeoning career by securing his first-ever BET award. The talented artist emerged victorious in the fiercely competitive Best International Flow category at the prestigious 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards.
Facing off against some of the most esteemed rap artists from around the globe, Black Sherif’s win exemplifies his exceptional talent and growing influence on the international hip-hop scene. The category boasted a lineup of formidable competitors, including the late Aka and K.O from South Africa, as well as the acclaimed Sampa The Great from Zimbabwe. The diverse list of nominees also featured Gazo (France), Central Cee (UK), J Hus (UK), Major Rd (Brazil), Ninho (France), and Tasha & Tracie (Brazil).
For Black Sherif, this victory is a significant moment in his career, marking his first BET award. Notably, he had previously been nominated in the same “Best International Flow” category during the 2022 edition but narrowly missed out on the award, which was claimed by Benjamin Epps.
The 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards ceremony was recorded in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, and is scheduled to be broadcast live on October 10. The news of Black Sherif’s win has sparked an outpouring of congratulations and celebratory messages from fellow artists and well-wishers. This recognition follows his remarkable achievement as the top award recipient at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards last year.
In winning the Best International Flow award, Black Sherif has become only the second Ghanaian artist to achieve this honor, following in the footsteps of the renowned Sarkodie, who claimed the same award in 2019. As the artist’s star continues to rise, his music resonates not only within Ghana but also on a global scale, solidifying his place as a prominent figure in the world of hip-hop and rap.
