Kai Havertz hopes to play for Arsenal for the first time this week.
The Gunners left on Sunday for a preseason training camp in Germany, where they will take on Nurnberg on Thursday.
Havertz is a member of the 30-person team that will train at Adidas’ Herzogenaurach headquarters.
The 16-year-olds Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly, who both signed scholarship agreements last week, are among the party that has traveled to Germany.
Only on Saturday did Havertz and other players return to practice after playing in June’s international contests.
They did not participate in Arsenal’s friendly match against Watford on Saturday, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
This week, the team will train alongside Havertz and the other international players, including Bukayo Saka, and a decision will be made regarding whether or not they can play on Thursday.
Their inclusion in Arsenal’s next tour of the United States, which departs on Sunday, has always been a top goal.
By then, Arsenal wants to add more new players, and they want to do so by announcing the acquisitions of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber this week.
Last week, the two underwent medical exams as Arsenal appears poised to increase their summer investment to almost £200 million.
