The self-described queen mother of Anyenyere, an Atwima suburb, has come under fire from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, over her alleged right to stool lands in a protracted chieftaincy conflict.
The woman claimed to have become Anyenyere’s queen mother when she appeared before the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace, citing her late husband’s bequest of the stool and lands in the region.
The woman claimed that stool lands left in her care by her late husband had been taken by the opposing party, who are Oyoko clan descendants.
But the Asantehene questioned the queen mother’s right to claim the stool and its privileges, chastising her for selling lies.
Her narration infuriated Otumfuo, who accused her of making up stories in front of him. He refuted her assertions, calling it “a stupid act.”
“Stop acting foolishly; you are not a queen. Under my rule, as a queen mother, who will sell such lies before me? “Your statements are false,” the Asantehene uttered.
Later, the woman was dragged out of the Asantehene’s presence and her slipper removed, symbolizing her destoolment.
