Introduction:

The National Football League (NFL), in partnership with the Kenya Federation of American Football (KFAF) and the Ghana American Football Federation (GAFF), is taking a monumental step in growing the game of American football in Africa. The collaborative effort will bring youth NFL FLAG football tournaments to Kenya and Ghana this October. The initiative not only aims to introduce young boys and girls to the exciting world of flag football but also offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the winning teams to represent their countries at the 2024 Pro Bowl Games in the United States.

Expanding the Love of the Game:

This initiative aligns with the NFL’s long-term commitment to fostering the growth of American football at all levels in Africa. NFL FLAG football is the non-contact version of the sport, making it accessible to everyone, irrespective of age or gender. Flag football has seen a surge in popularity globally, with women and girls contributing significantly to its rapid growth.

NFL FLAG in Kenya:

In Kenya, ten teams comprising both boys and girls will participate in the NFL FLAG Kenya National Championship. The winning team from this tournament will have the incredible opportunity to represent Kenya in Orlando, Florida, at the 2024 Pro Bowl Games’ NFL FLAG International Division. The tournament will feature boys and girls under 12 years old from various regions across the country and will take place at the Kasarani Sports Complex in Nairobi.

NFL FLAG in Ghana:

In Ghana, the enthusiasm is even greater, with 16 teams of boys and girls gearing up for the NFL FLAG Ghana National Championship. The victorious team from this tournament will go on to represent Ghana at the 2024 Pro Bowl Games in Orlando, Florida. As with Kenya, the tournament in Ghana will feature boys and girls under 12 years old, hailing from various regions, and will be held at the Bwoodinn Sports Complex in Accra.
