In a harrowing incident on October 9, 2023, the Ghana Police Service apprehended two individuals suspected of attempted robbery. The case took a tragic turn as the suspects, Alhaji Wahab Suleiman and Ibrahim Abubakari, along with another accomplice still at large, allegedly engaged in a shootout with police officers in Ejura, Ashanti Region.
The police officers were conducting an operation to thwart a planned robbery targeting a mobile money vendor in Ejura when the armed confrontation unfolded. During the exchange of gunfire, two police officers sustained gunshot wounds and were promptly rushed to a medical facility for treatment. Simultaneously, the two robbery suspects, who also suffered gunshot injuries during the encounter with the police, are now receiving medical care under the protection of law enforcement authorities.
Evidence collected at the crime scene further underscores the seriousness of the situation. The recovered exhibits include two SB shotguns, one pump-action gun, six live BB cartridges, and one used BB cartridge.
