Chelsea will make a revised offer for Moises Caicedo of at least £70 million this week.
The 21-year-old has already reached a personal agreement with Chelsea, and he is now hoping that the next offer would persuade Brighton to accept his ideal transfer.
There is concern that Brighton may reject this revised offer after rejecting a similar amount from Arsenal during the January transfer window. Brighton turned down a £60 million proposal from Chelsea for their top midfield target earlier.
After benchmarking their demand to the £105 million Arsenal paid to acquire Declan Rice from West Ham, Brighton is holding out for.
In an interview with Ecuadorian broadcaster TC Television last week, Caicedo underlined his desire to sign for Chelsea, saying: “It’s a huge team, that’s true. A very large, distinguished, and stunning team that I am unable to refuse my want to join.
“The city itself is lovely. Everything about it is amazing.
In recent weeks, Brighton officials have been in touch with Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, who routinely update new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
