Aymeric Laporte might be the next well-known athlete to choose Saudi Arabia over the Premier League.
As reported on Wednesday by a number of sources, Manchester City has accepted an offer from Al-Nassr for the Spanish international center-back, and the player is amenable to the transfer.
Since the end of the previous campaign, Laporte has been anticipated to depart Premier League champions Manchester City, especially since Joko Gvardiol joined the team from RB Leipzig to fill his position.
Although West Ham is apparently interested in signing the 29-year-old as part of a deal to send Lucas Paquetá in the opposite direction, Crystal Palace has been loosely linked to the player.
Laporte must choose if he wants to join Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mané, and company now that Al-Nassr has had a bid accepted, or if he wants to wait until later in the transfer for an offer to come from closer to home.
Laporte, who came off the bench in Friday night’s victory at Burnley, still has two years left on his deal with the Etihad Stadium. He is now in Athens, where the team is preparing for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup match against Sevilla.
