Gabri Veiga, a midfielder for Celta Vigo, has signed a contract with Napoli, despite interest from numerous other teams.
Previously, clubs like Liverpool and Barcelona were said to be interested in signing the Spaniard, but Fabrizio Romano has now announced that Veiga will be joining the Partenopei permanently.
The two clubs have a verbal agreement on a transfer fee, with Celta expected to get €36 million plus add-ons. Documents are currently being prepared to complete the 21-year-old’s transfer to Napoli, who will pay an initial cost of €30 million and bonuses of €6 million.
Veiga was initially expected to take the position of Piotr Zielinski, who appeared to be on the verge of joining Al Ahli, but he has since turned down the opportunity to move to the Middle East and is now likely to stay at the club. Veiga may work in conjunction with Zielinski, though it is unclear how he will be utilised.
