MILAN ŠKRINIAR JOINS PSG ON A FREE TRANSFER FROM INTER

Milan Kriniar, a defender for Slovakia’s national team, has been unveiled as Paris Saint-Germain’s first official signing of the summer.

The Ligue 1 winners eventually were successful in their efforts to sign the 28-year-old by waiting until his contract with the Nerazzurri expired this past week. The player himself also confirmed the deal some months prior. The stumbling block in their attempt to sign the defender last summer was Inter’s €80 million asking price, which PSG thought was excessive. After having back surgery in April at Mérignac, close to Bordeaux, Kriniar’s season was hindered for the second half by the injury.

The center-back left for Ligue 1 after six seasons, during which he won the Serie A championship in 2020–21 and made 246 appearances for the team. After Sergio Ramos left on a free transfer, he signs a five-year contract with the Parisians and is anticipated to be followed by a number of other new hires soon after Luis Enrique is introduced as the team’s new head coach.
