LEANDRO PAREDES RETURNS TO AS ROMA

Leandro Paredes, a 29-year-old midfielder for Paris Saint-Germain, has agreed to return to AS Roma, according to both organizations. The Argentine spent the previous campaign on loan at Juventus after Les Parisiens judged him surplus to requirements.

Foot Mercato claims that a €5 million transfer fee was agreed upon by PSG and the Serie A team in order to sign the 2022 World Cup champion. The Ligue 1 champions have attempted to offload the Argentine for a very long time. Juventus declined to use the €22 million option to make his move to Turin permanent in June. Paredes was working with the team’s “undesirables” as he entered the final year of his contract with PSG.

It is an unexpected visit to the Italian capital for Paredes. The Stadio Olimpico of AS Roma is where the 29-year-old midfielder first gained notoriety. Nine years ago, he transferred from Boca Juniors to the Giallorossi on loan.
He signed for a €6 million contract the next year, in 2015. After losing Nemanja Mati to current Ligue 1 leaders Stade Rennais, AS Roma was looking to bolster its midfield. On Tuesday, Paredes and Renato Sanches, who will join José Mourinho’s team on loan, arrived at Rome’s Ciampino airport. The Argentine is committed to Roma through the 2025 summer season.
