Peacemaker Azuegbulam, a Nigerian veteran, has made history by winning gold at the Invictus Games in Dusseldorf, Germany. He is the first Nigerian and African to achieve this remarkable feat in the event’s history.
Azuegbulam’s journey to victory was marked by incredible resilience. Three years ago, he lost his left leg during an encounter with Boko Haram militants while serving in the Nigerian army.
The Invictus Games, initiated by Prince Harry in 2014, aim to rehabilitate wounded servicemen and women through sports. Azuegbulam triumphed in the powerlifting category and also participated in sitting volleyball and other sports.
His remarkable achievement serves as a testament to the unconquerable spirit embodied by the term “Invictus.”
