Napoli’s head coach, Rudi Garcia, has addressed the mounting transfer rumors surrounding star striker Victor Osimhen amid speculation of a potential move to Real Madrid.
The Nigerian international has gained recognition as one of Europe’s most lethal forwards since 2021, but his future with Napoli has come into question. There is a significant possibility that Osimhen could depart Napoli either in the upcoming January transfer window or next summer. This uncertainty has been exacerbated by an incident where Napoli’s official TikTok account posted a video that was perceived as mocking Osimhen, leading to a controversy within the club.
In response to the social media mishap, Osimhen’s representatives have hinted at his willingness to consider leaving Napoli. The 24-year-old striker played a pivotal role in Napoli’s success, scoring 26 Serie A goals, which helped secure the club’s first Serie A title since 1990 at the conclusion of the previous season. Consequently, Real Madrid has reportedly expressed interest in monitoring Osimhen’s situation.
As Real Madrid searches for a new striker in 2024, with Osimhen being one of the options, Rudi Garcia has affirmed Napoli’s determination to retain the talented forward.
“I can assure you he loves this jersey and will give his all this year,” Garcia stated, as reported by DAZN via ESPN.
Garcia further explained, “No harm was intended (by the video), but there were instinctive reactions. I don’t know if now Osimhen will publish his photos on social media again with the Napoli shirt.”
Garcia emphasized the positive relationship he has maintained with Victor Osimhen since his arrival at Napoli, expressing his satisfaction with the striker’s unwavering commitment to scoring goals.
