THE POSTECOGLOU ERA AT SPURS BEGINS WITH A DRAMATIC LOSS TO WEST HAM

After a five-goal thriller against West Ham in his native country, Ange Postecoglou lost his first game in charge of Tottenham.
In Perth, the Conference League champions took the lead after 18 minutes when Danny Ings headed in a beautiful Jarrod Bowen cross for the game’s first goal.

Following Divin Mubama’s goal, Tottenham, who had Harry Kane in their starting lineup along with James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, and Manor Solomon, went farther behind.

Ivan Perii bundled the ball inches wide before Richarlison curled against the post for Spurs, who were considerably improved after making a whole XI of changes for the second half.

Ultimately though, the improvement paid off with two goals in the span of three second half minutes.

Giovani Lo Celso scored the opening goal of the Postecoglou era by volleying in after the ball was passed into his path in the box, and Destiny Udogie equalized by flicking a front post header from a flawless Perii corner into the far corner. Both players were connected with moves away.

All of that hard work was undone, though, with 12 minutes left when Gianluca Scamacca calmly finished to win in a smash-and-grab finale as he continued to stake out his position for the upcoming season.
