The Ghana Grid Company LTD (GRIDCo), with the support of the 2022/23 batch of National Service Personnel (NSP), proudly inaugurated the Prestea Spring Water Project in Prestea, Western Region. This initiative is part of GRIDCo’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and reflects the dedication and community spirit of the NSPs.

The Prestea Spring Water Project was conceived as a solution to address the water challenges faced by the Prestea Heman community. The project includes two water reservoirs connected to a natural spring water source within the forest. Executed at a cost of GH₵80,000, the project encompasses the following features:

  1. Two Overhead Reservoirs: These are crucial for storing and distributing water to the community.
  2. Four Water Outlets: Providing convenient access points for the residents.
  3. In-Built Connection: This ensures a clean and safe supply of natural spring water to the community.

Importantly, this water facility has undergone rigorous testing and has received certification from the Ghana Water Company LTD, confirming its safety for human consumption.

During the project’s commissioning ceremony, Emily Otoo, Manager for HR Operations, conveyed warm greetings from GRIDCo’s management. She highlighted the profound impact that projects like this have on the communities where GRIDCo operates. Nana Nteboa Prah IV, the Divisional Chief of Prestea-Himan Traditional Area, passionately urged the District Assembly and the youth of the community to protect this valuable gift. He expressed deep gratitude and encouraged GRIDCo to undertake more CSR projects in the area.

The event saw the participation of esteemed guests and dignitaries, including Nana Nteboa Prah IV, Honourable Shaibu (the Assemblyman for the community), representatives from the National Service Secretariat, the Municipal Police Commander, and delegates from FGR and Sankofa Mines.

The commissioning of the Prestea Spring Water Project marks a significant milestone in GRIDCo’s ongoing journey of community engagement and project delivery by its NSPs over the past six years. This initiative underscores GRIDCo’s commitment to creating a positive impact that extends beyond the domain of electricity transmission and distribution.
