Police officer killed in Ablekuma robbery posthumously promoted

General Lance Corporal to General Corporal was the posthumous promotion given to the police officer who unfortunately perished in the Ablekuma Bullion Van Robbery event.

The declaration was made at a pre-burial ceremony for killed police officer Callistus Amoah that was conducted at the St. George Catholic Church in Tesano, Accra.
General Corporal Callistus Amoah was fatally shot by three armed thieves at a gasoline station when he was performing his duties in a bullion van at Ablekuma Fan Milk in Accra.The announcement of his promotion was received with serious reverence and served to honour his commitment and sacrifice.

Dr. George Akufo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, sent his sincere sympathies to Callistus Amoah’s family as well as to the organisations with whom he had worked.

Dr. Dampare also gave the people the assurance that every effort will be made to find and prosecute those responsible for the horrible act.

“On behalf of my colleagues and the leadership of the Police, I extend my condolences to Amanda, the parents of my brother and the institutions that when my brother was alive was involved in. Since the incident happened, I have been in an unmeasurable pain which I have not been able to quantify and define until I came here today.

“Calis is a colleague to all of us at the top but to me, he is a brother because the village he comes from is close to a village I have adopted because of the benevolence of an old lady towards me.”

The gathering was a solemn occasion where friends, family, and colleagues came together to honour the memory of the dedicated police officer who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
