Prior to their Champions League qualifying match, AEK Athens and Dinamo Zagreb fans engaged in violent altercations that resulted in one man’s death.

Up to 120 Dinamo supporters reportedly engaged opponents’ supporters late on Monday night at AEK’s OPAP Arena in Athens as flares, homemade explosives, and other missiles were thrown between the parties, according to local police.

A 29-year-old man was killed as a result of the scenes, which lasted for more than an hour and involved multiple stabbings.

Along with 98 arrests, three further Athens supporters and five Croatian supporters had their injuries treated.

The third-round qualifier, which was scheduled to start on Tuesday night, has been postponed by UEFA.
