Barcelona has officially announced that Marc-Andre ter Stegen, their main goalkeeper and club captain, has extended his contract until 2028.
Despite his previous agreement running until 2025, the 31-year-old German player’s future has been secured for an additional three years by the Catalan club.
The contract had been in the works since the prior week, and Ter Stegen has now formally signed it. Notably, the new deal incorporates an impressive €500 million release clause for the goalkeeper.
Ter Stegen’s exceptional performance over the past year played a pivotal role in Barcelona’s victories in La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup in the previous season.
